Creating Youth Workplace Readiness Training for the New Brunswick Context - SRDC

Creating Youth Workplace Readiness Training for the New Brunswick Context

Young people entering the workforce for the first time often encounter new workplace expectations, processes, and norms. Situations experienced workers navigate with ease can challenge youth with limited employment experience. To support successful transitions into the labour market, this project is developing an online workplace readiness training course for youth in New Brunswick. The training aims to strengthen career readiness, employability, and workplace success by providing practical, accessible, and relevant learning through a series of self-paced online modules.

To ensure the training reflects the experiences, perspectives, and needs of young people, both youth and employment professionals are involved in its development through advisory working groups. The project follows a four-phase, iterative development process. Each phase includes content development, focus group consultations with both advisory groups, analysis of participant feedback, and revision of training materials. This collaborative approach ensures the course content stays relevant, engaging, and responsive to work realities and youth needs. The final outcome will be an online workplace readiness training course that equips New Brunswick youth with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully enter and navigate the world of work.
