Immigration has long played a vital role in the Canadian Economy and Society. It has been a key response to Canada’s aging population and persistently low birth rates. According to the 2016 census, immigrants accounted for more than 80% of Canada’s population growth. It is estimated that by the early 2030s, Canada’s population growth will rely exclusively on immigration.
